Are you a crocheter looking to give your time and talents to a great cause?

We are calling upon avid crocheters to help create small octopuses for premature babies. The tentacles mimic the feel of the umbilical cord in their tiny hands. They have been found to soothe the babies, and help prevent them from pulling on their wires and tubes. This is a workshop to learn the basics of crocheting the octopus for Octopus for a Preemie – US.

Details: The pattern and instructions will be provided at the event. Bring a darning needle to fit your yarn, small stitch marker, crochet hook and a 100% cotton yarn. Some Options include: Rowan Summerlite DK or Tahki Cotton Classic with 2.50mm or 2.75mm hook, Rowan Handknit Cotton or Cascade Ultra Pima Cotton with a 2.25mm or 2.50mm hook, Circulo Anne or Ella Rae Phoenix DK Prints with a 2.0mm or 2.25mm hook, or similar combos. You will need about 65 yards of one yarn and one hook.

Did you know an octopus has 3 hearts – so maybe they offer more love and affection than any other animal, even in crochet form!
