Bring your strips for a fun marathon weekend! This bargello lonestar goes together quickly in strip sets. It will work with any 2-1/2” strips you have, whether you want to use stash or something fresh; it’s a great class to try!
Karen Gibbs, Sales Manager for Island Batik, is a nationally known Quilter, Instructor, Author, Fabric and Pattern Designer! She’s held Madison’s Star Marathons around the country and we are super-excited to be hosting one at 
Wooden Spools!
Karen’s daughter, Madison (for whom the quilt is named) will be there too – Madison helps out in class by pressing for students! How awesome is that???
You don’t need to be an experienced quilter – just know how to sew! Spend a super fun weekend sewing and have a stunning Madison’s Star Quilt to show for it! Wow…

Bring Stash fabric…bring a strip pack, your choice! The beauty of this quilt is that it will work with any 2-1/2” strips you have! Stop in and see the many samples we have in the shop.
The Marathon starts Friday September 30th at 4pm – but the prior Saturday, Sept. 24th at 2pm, Karen will be on hand to help with you with fabric selections! Shop with her help – or bring in your ideas and she’ll help you audition options!
Here’s the full schedule:
Saturday, Sept. 24th: 2pm Fabric Selection help if desired
Friday, September 30th: 4 p.m. until ???
We’ll start Friday at 4 p.m. by sorting your strips and making final fabric selections. Start sewing!
We’ll have food on hand to keep you nourished and energized into the evening!
Saturday, October 1st: 9 am until 1 pm and then regroup 5 pm until 8 pm
Saturday’s sessions:
- Get your homework done!
- Layout your bargello diamonds
- Cut out your pieced diamond
Sunday 9 am until 2:00-ish
- Try a Y seam with some interesting inspiration!
- Discussion of finishing:
- Quilting,
- Applique?
- Borders
Throughout the weekend we’ll have food on hand for you, gifts and prizes – and Wooden Spools will be providing some of your supplies!
