Ready to continue? It’s time for Block Two: Eos. After doing 6 blocks last week, you’ll be happy to know you only need to do 3 of Block Two, although they are slightly bigger. This block uses the skills of the first block (half-square triangles) and adds flying geese and quarter square triangles. Don’t worry! Kate has great instructions and makes this process easy! Make sure you read each instruction for all the tips and tricks from Kate (Don’t skim, like I tend to 😬)!
Here are pictures of some of our Eos Blocks!
One other skill in this block that might be new to you is rotate pressing. This sounds scary, but it’s not. The general idea of rotate pressing is when putting together two sets of quarter square triangles to make a square, you will sew the sets together and before pressing, snip the few stitches of the center seam allowance. Now open the block and rotate the seam allowances around. This allows the center seams to open and lay flat instead of leaving you with a very thick center that is hard to quilt over. See instructions and photos in the Luminous pattern!
Great work so far, friends! (Oh! Aren’t quite caught up? Don’t worry! Some of us aren’t either 😜).
Vicki confession: One of us (me) just completed the fabric selection step… look how pretty, tho! 😍 Can’t wait to get started! (See, it’s never a race…just quilt at your own pace!)
Thankfully, we let you have an off week next newsletter to catch up! Keep it up!
