Welcome to the Letter L newsletter, and our next step in the QAL! Are you Loving this Luminous QAL? We are almost at the halfway point in our quilt. Time has gone so quickly. I hope you are having as much fun making this quilt as I did. I think I would have a hard time waiting to do the next block. How many of you are way ahead? Finished? This is a slow-paced QAL – so, if you are seeing this for the first time – you can easily start now and catch up!
This week we will be making block #4 Artemis. This feels like the first “big” block you’ll make for this quilt. I love how the blocks that you make get bigger the farther along you get in this pattern. (That last one..😃❤️)
What’s different about this block? We’re going to cut it with scissors instead of using a rotary cutter. 🤣 Just kidding – checking to see if you are paying attention!
Actually, here’s what’s really cool about this block: It is the first time you get to use Kate’s excellent method for making flying geese. This has quickly become my favorite way to make flying geese. What do we love about it? The seams are sewn before you cut so there are no stretchy bias edges to worry about! What else do we love? There is almost no fabric waste. If you haven’t tried this method before, maybe this pattern is the place to give it a try! I love that, even though I have been making quilts for a long time, I still find new ways to do things and I feel like I learn something new with each pattern I try.
After this block you’ll have just 2 more blocks and then assembly!
