Week of March 10, 2019 – Garage Sale Season
On Friday I was driving my car and I saw a Garage Sale sign. I was so excited! To me this is the first sign of spring. This year it has come even before the tulips and daffodils have peeked out their little heads. As I drove on, I didn’t find the garage sale but something even better. It was trash day, and someone was throwing out a dismantled wooden baby crib. I couldn’t help myself. I stopped and picked up one side of the crib and took it home. It makes a perfect “rack” on which to hang doll quilts. After cleaning it up I hung some of my favorites (it holds 8) and put it in my laundry room right under a few other doll quilts that are mounted on the wall. One of the most precious things I found on it as I was cleaning it up are little teeth marks. Made, no doubt, by the little toddler standing up in their crib and teething. I can only hope they also had a nice quilt to keep them warm at night.
The space is a little narrow but since I live alone and I’m the one who does the laundry – I love it! Now every time I go in there, I get to admire my little treasures. I think I will also switch them out with the seasons. I can just see my new rack with patriotic quilts in the summer and Christmas quilts in December.
I thought I would share with you this new decorating “find”. I hope it will inspire you to keep your eyes open and your imagination running. You never know how you might repurpose something in a new way. This last picture shows you more of the room, but I thought you might enjoy the first two which are a bit closer so you can see the quilts.
