Fixing Knitting Mistakes with Michelle Bowman – In-Person or Zoom (3/3)
January 29 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Fixing Knitting Mistakes
Don’t despair—mistakes happen in knitting all the time, even to the most seasoned of knitters. The good news is that, with practice, you can solve your knitting mistakes and learn how to keep an eye out for them. In this class, we will make swatches and samples, and we’ll practice how to fix the most common mistakes: dropped stitches, accidental increases and decreases, and twisted stitches. We’ll learn about “reading” your knitting and how to tell if you should “tink” or “frog.” And, we’ll discuss best practices for you to use in your knitting, which can help minimize the need to rip out hours of work.
Comfortable with knit stitch and purl stitch; know at least one cast on and bind off method; know at least one increase and decrease method; know the difference between stockinette and garter stitch fabrics.
This is class is presented hybrid-style: you can attend in person or via Zoom. “In case of bad weather, we’ll ask students to stay home and attend class via Zoom only.” There are some technology requirements: students should access the video portion of class with something larger than a smart phone, and the device must have both 2-way audio and video, so teacher and student can both see and hear each other well. Students can access class using one device for audio and one device for video. Not sure if your device(s) will work? Ask for a ‘tech check’ and we’ll connect you with the teacher to run a test before you sign up for class. Students should also have a way to view and print PDF handouts.
