Positive/Negative 9-Patch with Doris DeGenova
September 18 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Join Doris for a day of sewing fun and learn a really cool technique to create 9-Patch blocks!
The technique will teach you how to make two 9-Patches, one Positive and one Negative (the difference between the two is the placement of the 2 colors/fabrics) from two squares of fabric. We will learn two sizes: 3” finished 9 Patches that start with two 4 1⁄2″ squares, and 7 1⁄2″ finished 9 Patches that start with two 9” squares.
The class is beginner friendly – so as long as you have a good working knowledge of your sewing machine, join the fun and learn some new skills!
As with most patchwork, the 9-Patch likes to stand out and be noticed! So, choose contrasting fabrics. Smaller prints, solids and fabrics that ‘read’ or look solid from a distance – work best for the small 3” finished 9-Patch. Large prints, brights and Batiks are great for the larger 7 1⁄2″ finished 9-Patch.
In class, I will show examples of 9-Patch quilts and settings.
