Magic Loop & 2 Circs: Two Techniques for Knitting in the Round with Michelle Bowman

Sunday, May 1st

12:30 to 4:30 pm

Knitting in the round is an essential skill, opening up a wide range of projects for knitters to enjoy. There are a few techniques for knitting in the round, and the magic loop and two circs methods offer the most in flexibility: you can knit small tubes (like socks) and large tubes (like sweaters). In this technique class, you’ll learn how to knit in the round with these two methods, including casting on and binding off.

Prerequisite knowledge

Students should be comfortable with knit stitch and purl stitch, cast-ons and bind-offs, increases and decreases, and know the difference between stockinette and garter stitch fabrics. Previous experience with knitting in the round is recommended (for example, an adult hat knit in the round on 16” circulars).

This is class is presented hybrid-style: you can attend in person or via Zoom. Class will be presented via Zoom only if inclement weather would cancel in-person class.
There are some technology requirements: students should access the video portion of class with something larger than a smart phone, and the device must have both 2-way audio and video, so teacher and student can both see and hear each other well. Students can access class using one device for audio and one device for video. Not sure if your device(s) will work? Ask for a ‘tech check’ and we’ll connect you with the teacher to run a test before you sign up for class.
All students should also have a way to view and print PDF handouts.
