Stitch & Slash: Carol Ann Waugh

STITCH & SLASH

This one-day, 5 hour class will teach you the unlimited design possibilities of raw edge cut work and add to the surface texture techniques you learned in Stupendous Stitching. (not a pre-requisite)

Starting with simple machine stitching (either free motion or regular stitching) you will stitch a design on the back of your layered fabrics.  Then, it’s ripping and tearing (the most fun part!) to uncover a geometric pattern on the top.

The final steps will be to hand/machine stitch to create your textured fabric art.  If you thought Stupendous Stitching was addictive – wait until you finish your first “Stitch & Slash” piece!  This is another fun class where every design decision you make is based on the decision you made before.

And, there are no rules except to have fun!

Wednesday, September 12th  (10 am to 3 pm)

Self Portrait Workshop: Carol Ann Waugh

This workshop will teach you how to create a self-portrait in fabric. You will learn how to create a face and transfer that drawing to a pattern. Students will select appropriate fabrics and construct a portrait that can be taken home for final finishing. No particular skills are required other than the ability to let loose your imagination and have fun. By the end of the day, you will have broken out of your barriers and will approach future compositions with a new found confidence and freedom to play, create, and be as original as you are — in your artwork and in life!
